Modelled recumbent with tall arched tail feathers, the head turned to the right, naturalistically moulded and enamelled with green, blue, iron-red and grisaille feathers, the head with serrated comb in iron-red with protruding yellow eyes and sharp beak, the yellow legs tucked under its body, inner rim partly polished, rim chip restored, two rim cracks to cover

An armorial tureen and cover, similarly modelled and with its stand, bearing the arms of Asteguieta, was sold in these Rooms, 16 March 1981, lot 69; and a non-armorial cockerel sauce-tureen and cover was sold in these Rooms, 1 and 2 March, 1976
