A 15-BORE TURKISH MIQUELET-LOCK GUN

LATE 17TH CENTURY

With three-stage twist sighted barrel with shaped silver-inlaid muzzle, the central section with raised longitudinal sighting rib and maker's stamp (gold lining missing), the breech and muzzle each decorated with panels of arabesques in encrusted silver, single-aperture standing back-sight also decorated with encrusted silver, characteristic lock with engraved and chiselled details, stained full stock (minor damage) inlaid with brass pellets and roundels of geometric design inlaid with green-stained horn and decorated with applied engraved silver panels of shaped outline (one incomplete, some later) secured by dome-headed studs, swelling faceted butt with inlaid translucent horn bands and ivory rear section, two engraved silver barrel bands (the third missing), iron button trigger, and wooden ramrod with spirally fluted iron tip
