With rebrowned two-stage twist barrel and silver fore-sight, signed octagonal breech section changing to polygonal, case-hardened recessed patent breech with four platinum lines and platinum-lined touch-hole, case-hardened tang engraved with a bird amidst scrollwork, signed serial numbered flat lock engraved en suite and inscribed 'Patent 2931' behind the swept rainproof pan, roller, and patent steel engraved 'Patent Self Primer 2931', figured walnut half-stock (lightly bruised), chequered grip, scroll engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon, fore-end cap and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and contemporary brass-mounted ramrod: in contemporary fitted mahogany case (adapted, minor damage), lined in blue velvet with some accessories, the lid with large illustrated trade label for circa 1821-1826, and flush-fitting carrying handle, London proof marks
