A PAIR OF 25-BORE PERCUSSION DUELLING PISTOLS

Converted from flintlock, with rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels signed on the top flat, tangs each engraved with a bird and rococo ornament, case-hardened patent breeches with short platinum line and platinum plug, signed engraved case-hardened locks, scroll engraved hammers, figured walnut full stocks carved with a shell behind each barrel tang, flat-sided butts coarsely chequered with a dot in the centre of each diamond, blued steel mounts including trigger-guards each with large pineapple finial and finely engraved with an open flower and foliage on the bow, silver escutcheons engraved with owner's crest and motto, iron barrel-bolt escutcheons, one ramrod of wood, and one of iron (later), traces of original finish, and some old recolouring, London proof marks
