Lot Essay

This unusual head ornament relates in form to a number of items worn by the Turkman tribes from the 18th century until the present day. The form of the large panel, and particularly the decoration of the jade, belie its Ottoman origins.

A similar ornament was sold at Sotheby's 25th April, 1990, Lot 305
