Lot Essay

The present owners recall that the work was painted by Lowry in the room in which he had enjoyed many suppers of tomato soup, lamb chops and chips followed by rice pudding with plenty of skin. He would often look up at the painting which was hung over the Victorian dining table and remark, 'That boy could do with a good dinner'.
