Francis Collard, Regency Furniture, Antique Collectors' Club, 1985, p. 24, gives 1840 as the date when Johnstone Jupe & Co. became Johnstone Jeanes. Robert Jupe was the patentee of the Capston mahogany extending dining-table in 1835. He left the firm's premises in 67 Bond Street and set up his own in Welbeck Street.
