Redgate was a Nottingham landscape artist who exhibited at the Royal Academy (1886-1906) and at Suffolk Street. Finding many of his subjects locally, he favoured harvest scenes, rivers, and open landscapes with cattle, although he occasionally ventured into sporting themes and even historical genre. Examples of his work are in the Castle Museum, Nottingham.
