The Gillow Estimate Sketch Books at the Westminster Public Library, include a number of sketches for related 'Octagon dressing tables' and 'work bag tables' in the late 1790s. No. 1206, dated February 1800, illustrates a satinwood 'work bag table' of the same proportions, which is also banded in tulipwood and fitted with ivory knobs. Although the stretcher differs, this pattern of spindle stretcher can be found on Gillow chair designs of the period
