An unidentified collector's mark 'JS' (?)
The composition is similar to the picture of 1733 in the Sacristy of
San Stefano, Venice and that of the 1750s in the Canessa collection,
Milan. A. P. Zugni-Tauro, Gaspare Diziani, 1972 pls. 19 and 168. A drawing with a related setting and figures, but in reverse, is in the
Museo Civico, Udine (A. P. Zugni-Tauro, pl.337)
A drawing of comparable composition, but with notable differences in the attendants of the Magi and the Angels by the star was sold in these Rooms, 9 December 1986, lot 59
