The present drawing can be compared with a sheet in the Veyrenc collection at Valence (D. 89) dated 1763 and another drawing in a private collection (J. de Cayeux, Les Hubert Robert de la Collection Veyrenc au Musée de Valence, Valence, 1985, fig. 55)
Eunice Williams suggests that the present sheet dates from the period of the Ganay sketchbook circa 1764-5, comparing it to pages 67 and 71, Sotheby's Monaco, 1 December 1989, lot 50
