INDENTAs Abbas II Hilmi did not receive the Order of the Star of India, the Collar Badge and Star must have been passed down from his father, and possibly from his grandfather. Ismail Pasha was created Grand Commander of the Order in 1868 and was probably invested during a visit to England in 1869. His son Muhamed Tewfik Pasha was created Grand Commander in 1875. As in all cases where insignia is the personal gift from one monarch to another the G.C.S.I. insignia remained with the Egyptian Royal family. Some pieces relating to this Order were sold when a number of the Orders, Decorations and Gold Medals from the Collection of His Majesty King Farouk I of Egypt were sold by B. Max Mehl of Fort Worth, Texas, 12th June 1951.
