The complex design of this candelabrum is of particular interest as it incorporates revived Baroque and Rococo elements. The lions' masks and dragons are ars patriotica while the dolphins hint at links with the sea and possibly Brighton Pavilion but are taken almost certainly from Cuvilles' fountain ornament. However, the owls' masks on the stems derive from John Vardy's engravings of candlesticks designed by William Kent.
