The arms are those of Manners impaling Sherard for John, 2nd Duke of Rutland, (b. 18th September 1676) who married secondly on 1st January, 1713, Lucy, daughter of the 2nd Baron Sherard and sister of the 1st Earl of Harborough. The Duke died in 1721.

The supporters depicted either side are one of each of the two families' coats-of-arms.
