A FINE LAVENDER, WHITE AND GREEN JADEITE TWO-HANDLED VASE AND COVER
late qing dynasty

The flattened baluster body carved in high relief with eight boys, four standing on cloud-scrolls around the widest part of the vase and variously holding a helmet on a stick, a banner, a cash and a flaming pearl, above four further boys, one playing a drum, two holding a stick and the fourth a peach, standing on a band of rockwork above the flaring foot, divided on one side by two bats in flight and on the other with a fire-scroll and a cloud-scroll, all below two elephant-head loose-ring handles at the waisted neck, the domed cover with two further boys supporting the knop finial, the mottled stone predominantly of lavender tone with some areas of white and pale celadon and a few apple and russet inclusions
