Lot Essay

The Laudin family, who were a considerable dynasty of enamellers, habitually signed the reverses of their plaques, frequently adding their address. The bodily Assumption of the Virgin is a favourite Catholic subject, and the detail of the roses scattered over her abandoned shroud is by no means unusual.
