On an integrally cast circular plinth and an associated porphyry and gilt-bronze pedestal.
Dark reddish-brown patina with lighter brown highlights.
4 7/8in. (12.3cm.) high

Lot Essay

Although lacking the characteristic torsion of a Giambologna model, the present figure is clearly related to bronzes known to have come from Giambologna and his circle such as the signed bronze reduction of the Cesarini Venus in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (See C. Avery, Giambologna - The Complete Sculpture, Oxford, 1987, p. 134, fig. 134).
