James Ramsay (1786-1854) painted at least three portraits of Bewick, the earliest was exhibited in 1816. With the exception of the St.George panels, the binding appears to be identical to that described by Elaenore Jamieson English Embossed Bindings 1825-1850, catalogue number 34
