Thomas Hutchinson wrote to Wilde asking his permission to dedicate Jolts and Jingles: a book of poems for young people (Stanesby & Co., London, 1889) to him. Wilde, writing from 16 Tite Street, replies: 'Dear Mr.Hutchinson, I have to thank you for your very complimentary letter and for the pretty little book that accompanies it - the L'Envoi is very dainty and clever. It will give me great pleasure to accept the dedication of your new volume to which I look forward with much interest. yours faithfully Oscar Wilde'. Hutchinson has dated the letter 10/10/88.
