Lot Essay

This, like the previous drawing, probably dates from the second half of the 1620s when the artist was working in Villa Sacchetti, Castelfusano. Vitzthum who was less convinced of the early date pointed out that a copy of this drawing by Ferri omitting the washerwomen is at Rome, M. Giannatiempo, Disegni di Pietro da Cortona e Ciro Ferri delle Collezione del Gabinetto Nazionale delle Stampa, Rome, 1977, no. 123
