Benjamin Bell B. 1636, was apprenticed in 1649 to Thomas Claxton until 1657 and free in April of that year. He became master in 1682.
There is an entry in Robert Hooke's diary for 20 Mar. 1673/4 that reads 'borrowed Bell's engine for cutting wheels. He told me of one he had to perfect them, but would not show it'.
