In his formative years in London Joseph Knibb was known to have produced a number of experimental clocks. This particular example was originally front winding and there is evidence of a blocked winding hole at V corresponding to a similarly blocked hole in the movement plates. Similarly there are other easily distinguished blocked holes in the plates indicating the position of its original wheel train.
