This document, written in formal poetry, was sent by Raja Bihari Lal Bahadur b. Iftikhar al-Dawla, Afzal al-Mulk, Maharaja Mewa Ram Bahadur Salabat Jang b. Maharaja Newal Krishnan Bahadur b. Raja Daya Krishnan Bahadur, the Diwan (prime Minister) of the rulers of Oudh, on their behalf, directly to the Queen.

Queen Victoria knew Urdu which she had been tought by 'Abdul Karim from Agra. The studies proceeeded well but 'Abdul Karim was sent home to India after there were rumours of an affair!
