The inscriptions around the shoulder are the two opening distyches of Hafiz beginning dil miravad za dastam sahibdilan khudara:
'My heart goes forth from one hand; help, O pious ones
Oh the pain that the hidden mystery should be disclosed
Our boat is stranded! O fair breeze arise
It may be that I may behold the face of the Beloved'
Inscribed on the base is an owner's name, 'Sultan 'Ali b.Muhammad Siraj Nadushi
