INDENTMajor Evelyn James Wheelock Noble was commissioned, 1866 and entered the Royal Marine Artillery the following year; was attached as Astronomer to the Sandwich Islands party, Transit of Venus Expedition, 1874; served as Captain and Adjutant of the R.M. Battalion, 1882 and was present at the actions at Mallaha Junction, El-Magfar, Tel-El-Mahuta, Kassassin 28th. August and 9th. September and Tel-El-Kebir (Mentioned in Despatches, Brevet of Major, Order of Medjidie); employed on special police duties in Dublin, December 1882 to July 1883; retired 1892 (See lots 46 and 114 for other family medals)
