Lot Essay

The waved double-scrolled pediment, with flanking ears are a distinctive feature of Yorkshire chairs, with decorative carving distinguishing more specific areas. The thin arms angled quite sharply downwards and on short supports are similar to the chair shown by V.Chinnery Oak Furniture, The British Tradition, Woodbridge, 1979, p.476, fig.4.130
