Album of thirty-four albumen prints, two apparently from paper negatives, four signed E. Baldus, one of these numbered and two titled in the negatives, mounted one per page, seventeen with letterpress title and number on mounts, thirteen with manuscript title on mounts, eleven with letterpress photographer's credit and nineteen with photographer's facsimile signature on mounts, numbered in pencil 1 - 16 (Tuileries and Louvre) and 1 - 18 (Paris) with marbled blank between, tissue guards, marbled end papers, red morocco-backed marbled boards, titled in gilt on spine, lge. folio.

Lot Essay

The majority of the negatives date from circa 1856 - circa 1859. It seems likely however that the album was compiled and many if not all of the prints made in the early 1860s. See also lot for a companion volume of Spanish architectural subjects including one French subject by Baldus.
