The first book of Coburn's photographs to be published. A foreward written by George Bernard Shaw but not included stated The photogravure plates....have not been made in a factory....but by his own hands. Coburn himself stated ...in my hands photogravure produced results which can be considered as 'original prints', and which I would not hesitate to sign.
