Lieutenant George Randall was born at Orford, Suffolk in May 1786 and was appointed a Cadet in 1800. Arriving in India in early 1802, he was posted to the 12th Native Infantry as an Ensign and quickly saw action in the Jumna Doab operations. Promotion to Lieutenant followed in September 1803, as did Randall's participation in the Second Mahratta War, Hodson confirming his presence at Allighur, the Battle of Delhi and Laswarree and the fact that he was wounded in Monson's retreat on 25.8.1804. Subsequently one of approximately 150 Europeans to receive a three-clasp Army of India Medal, Randall died at Middleton, Suffolk in May 1857. He had resigned his Commission back in the Summer of 1814, following further stints of service in the Oudh, Akbarpur and Pathar-serai.
