Lot Essay

Private John O'Neil enlisted in Ireland in November 1876, being assigned to the 90th Foot from the 60th Brigade of Infantry in the same month. Departing for the Cape of Good Hope in October 1877, he served with the Regiment throughout the operations of 1877-79 in South Africa, and afterwards in India, being sent home for discharge in January 1883.
