Lot Essay

Captain Alfred Edward Hubbard was born in September 1862 and was commissioned into the Lincolnshire Regiment in August 1883. Advanced to Captain in June 1894, he went on to see action in the Sudan operations of 1896-98, including the Battles of the Atbara and Khartoum. Hubbard was advanced to Major in October 1904 and placed on the Reserve of Officers sometime prior to the Great War.
