M.C. London Gazette 3.3.1918 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. He showed great coolness, gallantry and initiative in organizing and leading the counter-attack, and in consolidating the position after its capture. He has on many occasions carried out dangerous patrols'.

Captain Eric Sutherland Bingham, M.C., first entered the French Theatre of War with the Queen's Regiment in February 1916, and finished the War as an Instructor in No. 2 Lewis Gun School.
