A large Louis Philippe gilt bronze mantel clock, second quarter 19th century
The shaped stepped case surmounted by a classical female figure, shown holding an oval shield to her side, the arched upper case with a River God and attendant within a border of foliage, the plinth with a frieze of Hercules, possibly with Creon, on anthemion capped scroll feet, the dial with Roman chapters inscribed LE ROY & FILS and with pierced moon hands, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell and numbered to the backplate 743 and 298
