A WORCESTER (BARR, FLIGHT & BARR) PINK-GROUND GARNITURE comprising a central campana-shaped vase and cover, with richly gilt entwined snake handles, painted with a woman holding a child and with two children at her side picking flowers in a landscape, inscribed on the base ".....- a sportive train."/To gather kingcups in the yellow mead,-/Cowper within a rectangular gilt band cartouche with canted angles, the two two-handled oviform side vases painted with The Task depicting a school-boy reading to a seated gentleman, inscribed on the base "The head of modest and ingenuous worth,/The blush'd at its own praise -"/Cowper and with The Task depicting a youth picking flowers in a woodland glade, inscribed on the base - and neatly tied/Are wedded thus to beauty and old age,/For intrest sake, the living to the dead, the reverses gilt with vases and anthemion on wide bands reserved on pink grounds, applied with bands of white beads, on circular spreading stems and square bases enriched with gilding (cover cracked across and finial a restored replacement, both handles with gilding retouched, both side vases with some restoration to rims, handles and one foot), impressed marks and impressed and script marks to central vase), circa 1813 23cm. and 13cm. high (3)
