CLASSICAL
A SOUTH ITALIAN STAMNOID PYXIS FROM THE WORKSHOP OF THE DARIUS PAINTER, with four palmettes around the lid and large palmettes under the handles, on one side the head of a woman in profile holding a mirror to her face, she wears sakkos with ribbon, diadem, earrings, necklace and bracelets all in added white, the other side showing a reclining draped female figure seated on a rock, similarly adorned, holding fillet in her left hand and elaborate phiale in her right from which hangs a garland of flowers, 4th Century B.C.
