Lot Essay

Presumably a study for a figure above an arch. The soft handling of chalk and the figure type recall the drawing of Saint Jerome in the Louvre, see Roman Drawings of the Sixteenth Century from the Musée du Louvre, Paris, Chicago, 1979, no. 32, illustrated. A drawing of a standing King in a similar technique to the present study attributed to Muziano by Philip Pouncey is in the Louvre, see Italian Renaissance Drawings from the Musée du Louvre, New York, 1975, no. 34, illustrated
