Lot Essay
A fauteuil in the Mobilier National, part of a set probably made for the French Royal Family almost at the end of the Monarchy, and very possibly by Georges Jacob, is illustrated G. Janneau, Les Sièges, Paris, 1967, p.165., fig. 310. It too combines Greek and Etruscan ornament and shares the square guilloche-filled back, flat arms, sphinx supports and turned legs of this lot.
