A GEORGE III MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE-CABINET, the breakfront upper part with arched centre and moulded cornice carved with overlapping leaves and egg-and-dart ornament surmounted by a beaded urn on breakfront plinth, fitted with a mirror-panelled central door edged with acanthus sprays enclosing three shelves, the cornices at the side pierced with fretwork and carved with upspringing foliage, with reeded urn finials, above dentilled friezes and narrow mirror-glazed doors, each enclosing four pigeon-holes and four mahogany-lined drawers, the angles with beaded foliate bosses, the lower splayed edge carved with stiff leaves above three narrow drawers, the table base of breakfront serpentine outline with moulded edge, fitted with a full-length frieze drawer enclosing a baize-lined slide covering divisions on six tapering panelled legs headed by paterae and ending in spreading block feet carved with stiff leaves, the glass possibly replaced or resilvered, the handles of the writing-drawer replaced
