Lot Essay

This chair was inspired by the 'antique' furniture designed by Georges Jacob (d. 1814) in the 'Empire' style and popularised by C. Percier and F. Fontaine's, Receuil de Decorations Intérieures, 1801.
A similar suite, including a chaise longue was sold in these rooms 12 Novemeber 1987, lot 69.
