A VIENNA-STYLE PLATE painted with a Roman centurion seated in an extensive barren landscape with distant mountains, his cuirass discarded beside him and with a maiden appearing in a vision among clouds, pointing out the figure of a victorious warrior engraved on a shield, attended by three amorini, the well painted in ciselé gilding, the lustrous purple border reserved with oval cartouches of muses seated in landscape alternating with blue-ground shaped-rectangular cartouches enriched with gilt vases and symmetrical foliate scrolls, within a ciselé gilt rim, imitation blue beehive mark and impressed numbers, circa 1880
