Lot Essay

In 1848 the Northern British Railway purchased the site and dismantled the original building (the college was founded in 1460 by Mary of Gueldres, James II's Queen), the stones were carefully numbered and deposited on Carlton Hill. The College was rebuilt on the present site in 1872. Due to the pilfering of many of the stones only the main body of the choir was executed
