Lot Essay

Paul Louis Weiller married Aliki Diplarakos on 22 October 1932. Two years later she rose to celebrity status by winning the Miss Europe beauty competition. Despiau exhibited another cast of this bronze at the Salon des Tuileries in 1937, no. 481. A replica, carved from Paros marble, was formerly in the collection of Jean Paul Belmondo
