Lot Essay

The sitter was born in 1718 and was the Founder Surgeon of Worcester Infirmary between 1745 and 1793. He died in 1801.

The Royal Infirmary was built in Castle Street, Worcester, by Anthony Kech in 1767-70. The building was enlarged in the mid 19th Century.
