A RARE FRENCH FLINTLOCK MUSKET of large bore, with two-stage barrel belled at the muzzle, octagonal breech struck with two maker's marks LS and S, both crowned, rounded lock (cock missing), walnut full stock (probably replaced during its working life) moulded at the barrel tang, full iron mounts including scrolled rounded side-plate, and oval escutcheon engraved with a coat-of-arms within the collar of the Golden Fleece under a royal crown (rubbed, ramrod mnissing), circa 1700
