A FLEMISH FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN with two-stage sighted barrel struck with maker's mark on the tang, and with bronze saddle back-sight (split) engraved with the two salmon from the arms of Salm, signed flat lock with bevelled border, engraved with strapwork and foliage, the cock retained from the inside (bolt replaced), moulded highly figured burr elm half-stock lightly carved in relief, with cheek-piece, the fore-end carved with the crowned arms of Salm in relief, finely engraved bronze mounts (trigger-guard bent) including solid side-plate engraved with a stag-hunt (one side-nail missing), pierced barrel-band with the full crowned arms of Salm, crowned escutcheon with monogram of Altgraf August Eugen Bernardin (1706-67), and bronze ramrod-pipes (ramrod missing), by Michael Quantier, Liège, circa 1730
