A FINE PAIR OF SILESIAN WHEEL-LOCK PISTOL-CARBINES with swamped octagonal sighted barrels rifled with eight grooves and with three punched and gilt panels, the intervening spaces with scrollwork executed in small punched dots, punched and gilt tangs, rounded locks with gilt pan-cover release buttons each in the form of a cherub's mask, the cocks each engraved with scrolls and a demi-figure, and with diagonally fluted arm (one jaw screw broken), walnut full stocks and patch-box covers profusely inlaid in the Teschian manner with horn and mother-of-pearl scrolls, dots, and ball-flowers within horn lines, inhabited by animals, masks, grotesques and a musician, each cheek-piece with a winged monster and an angel playing a lute, punched and gilt iron trigger-guards with traces of original blue, gilt-iron forward ramrod-pipes, horn butt-plates each engraved with a hare (one iron button missing), scroll engraved horn rear ramrod-pipes (one replaced), and original horn-tipped wooden ramrods, Teschen, circa 1650 26¼in.
