Islamic theology and jurisprudence, a selection of the following three books from the famous work of Malik b. Anus, collected by Yahya al-Laithi al-Andalusi (d.849 AD): Kitab al-Dakwat, Kitab al-Siyam, and Kitab al-I'tikaf wa Lailat al-Qadr, manuscript on thick brittle paper, 96ff. each with 43ll. extremely elegant dark brown maghribi, important words in red, the end of each sentence written in heavier maghribi terminating in a gold trefoil with red and blue details, each chapter heading with the word 'kitab' in extremely elegant gold kufic above the remainder of the title in heavier brown maghribi terminating in a gold and coloured rosette, (edges damaged, especially at each end, very slight staining), opening folio originally with full illumination (fragment), final two folios with text within illuminated gold plaited borders, final folio with colophon ........................... (damaged), loose in early brown morocco bonding with stamped medallion and borders, (old damages, flap attached by string)
