A GEORGE III TWO-HANDLED OVAL MEAT DISH AND OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE MEAT DISH COVER, each with shell and foliage borders, the cover applied with silver mounts, including detachable foliate scroll handle and twice with a coat-of-arms, the dish engraved twice with the same coat-of-arms, the dish and cover mounts by Philip Rundell, 1819, the cover by the Matthew Bolton Plate Company, circa 1819

The arms are those of Astley quatering Constable, for Sir Jacob Astley 6th Bt.(1797-1859), son of Sir Jacob Henry Astley 5th Bt., (1756-1817) and his wife Hester (d.1855), youngest duaghter and co-heir of Samuel Browne, of King's Lynn, Norfolk. Sir Jacob was M.P. for West Norfolk 1832-37 and married on 22 March 1819, Georgina Carolina (d. 1835). second daughter of Sir Henry Watkin Dashwood. He was later created 16th Baron Hastings on 18 May 1841. The barony, created by Edward I, had laided in abeyance until Sir Jacob had it terminated in his favour
