Lot Essay

This inkstand is modelled as a George I example by Anthony Nelme of 1718, which was exhibited in 1929 at both The Park Lane Exhibition, no. 558 and at The Sleaford House Exhibition, no. 478. It is now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (Carter Bequest)
