There are few private cellars in England that can equal the following 403 lots. These wines have been collected over many years by a highly knowledgeable wine lover with a particular penchant for the products of the Rhône and Alsace. The clarets in the collection too are of the highest quality, with a strong representation of the great 1970 and 1982 vintages. The Rhône section of the sale is particularly strong with no less than 130 cases of the now mature and classic 1978 vintage. Domaine-bottled red and white Burgundies abound and never before has such a comprehensive selection of Alsace wine has been offered at auction. As well as all these there is a highly desirable offering from the Loire, plus nuggets from Australia, California, Italy and Hungary.
Storage has been impeccable in the cool, dry cellar of a London house, with a part of the stock, those lots marked having been stored in London bonded warehouses and now offered duty-paid, but available in-bond. The balance has been transferred from the owner's cellar to Trapps and is offered lying London, S.E.1
